Hello Larry, i found this website a couple weeks ago accidentally while doing a genealogy deepdive of my own for my mother's side of the family and oh boy was i surprised to find that someone had created such a huge and wonderful source of information!
I've been trying to find my own specific branch of the family but I'm seeing a dead zone starting from the 1820-1901 Bénoni Lachance.
From what I've collected he had at least 6 more children with Ursule Fortier: Benoni Lachance 1846- (listed), Gedeon Lachance 1847-1884, Joseph Pepin Dit Lachance 1851-1936(listed) , Ursule Lachance 1853-, Ferdinand Lachance 1855-1937, Ursule Pépin 1844-1846, Codelie Pépin 1849-,
and finally, Emery Lachance 1855-1926 from which the rest of my branch comes from making it Bénoni Lachance(1820)> Emery Lachance(1855)> Emery Lachance(1875)> Ubald Lachance(1901-1948)> Normand Lachance(1941-2012)
Most of these names seem to have established themselves in Saint-Jérome, Québec

Hi Anthony,

Thanks for the kudos and thanks for finding the website. I do have a lot of the Lachance family in the database but certainly not even close to ALL of them. I've not researched Benoni's family except for two of his sons, probably because I found a descendant linked to another somewhere. Now I have the impetus to complete the family...thanks for that. I am on a brief hiatus until May 31st but will get to work on this as soon as possible. Thanks for the input and the kind comments.

Pepin Family Ancestry

Hi Larry, sharing LaChance family information from the Lewiston Maine area. I don't know if there is a relation to Pepin but sharing additional information that maybe you can say yes or no there is a relation? My grandfather is Wilfred LaChance and he had a brother Armand LaChance. His son/my dad is Gerard P LaChance (1925). Additional sons of Wilfrid are Lionel, Roland, Donald, Maurice LaChance all from the Lewiston Maine area. Wilfred was married to Alexandrine. My father often spoke of a cousin who was somewhat of a famous boxer (welter weight) by the name of 'Lefty' LaChance from the same area but don't know he real name. I believe he fought Willy Pep? I saw the Lewiston connection in your website and thought I would share.

Comment:

Thanks for sharing. The boxer cousin, who indeed did fight with Willy Pep, was Jean Maurice Lachance (aka Lefty) who died in 1994. Your grandfather and father are both in the database with your line going backwards to Antoine Pepin dit Lachance. Other Pepin's may also be related because it was our original name but, there are other Pepin families who came to Quebec that have not been proven to be related to ours. Glad you found me!

I enjoyed finding your Oakland page. My family moved there in 1962, when I was 4. My parents lived in Oakland until 2002 when they downsized to a condo in Sussex County.

Comment:

We must have crossed paths somewhere in town since I didn't leave until the summer of 1963. Thanks for the kind words.

You have done an absolutely marvelous job. I too am from the Jean Pepin dit Lachance line, with the second wife, Madeleine Fontaine. I am learning so much from your site. Thank you so much for sharing your work.

I think we are related

Hi my name is Corinna Lashon and I think we may be related. My grandfather was Favien Wilfred Lashon Sr. We were originally Lachance but our names were changed to the English version. I have been wanting to know about my genealogy for years. I am going to do more research so I can look up more names. Then I will get back with you. Corinna Lashon Doyle

I found so much information on this site; absolutely incredible. My father handed me a plethora of data that not only coincided with the family tree, but I was able to provide updates to the site. The generation and family tree has grown. Thanks for publishing this site.
