Thank you for the wealth of information regarding the Lachance family/origins. I had been researching on and off for sometime but this site is just awesome! My great-grandfather was Pierre Pepin dit Lachance from Joliet, Quebec but went back and forth living in Michigan and Joliet-eventually settled in Woonsocket, RI. When coming over to America he was forced to choose either Pepin or Lachance as his last name. He kept his original name, but his children, one of which is my grandfather Lucien Gaspard Lachance, were all known as Lachance. I can find only limited history on my great grandparents, but do have a wedding portrait of them from 1865. My maternal great grandmother was Laura (Americanized name?) Piette. Any info that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am a granddaughter of Felix and Marie Louise Lachance. My father is Marcel Joseph Lachance. My parents split up when I was a baby and I don't know anything about my father's side. It is nice to see some history of where my ancestors came from.

I see the name of Theophile Dick who was my great-grandfather. I don't know where he fits into your tree, but if you are interested, I have info on that line back three more generations. My grandmother's sister, Bertha Dick, was very insistent that the Dick line was Scottish, but I have not been able to prove that.

My Grandfather, Pierre Severin LaChance, born November 1900, is the focus of my search. I know he had a brother Philip. He grew up in Chicago, where he worked for Ludwig Drum Co. If anyone who reads this has more information please let me know via email.
Thanks!

My mother, Mary Louise LaChance, was born in Chicago on November 10, 1916. She now lives in Florida, and just celebrated her 91st birthday. She is the daughter of Alfred LaChance and Annie Elizabeth Chambers LaChance. They were born and raised on Mackinac Island, MI. The raised their family in Chicago. We had a family reunion on the Island in May, 2003. The cousins that attended were children of my mother's brothers. Thomas LaChance's widow, Barbara, also attended the reunion. My mother had 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Sisters: Anne Elizabeth and Helen Catherine. Brothers: Benoni (Ben), Thomas and Harold. Thanks for your great research!
