| How
Did I Get My Name? |
| Your parents knew, before
you were born, that you would be a boy and so...both being
the computer wizards that they are...they spent hours,
maybe days, searching the internet (not to mention books
of baby names) trying to find a name just for you that
would be unique.
Your Great Uncle Larry suggested Jean-Pierre or even Antoine
(after your great great grandfather) but your mom and
dad would have nothing to do with such names. They both
had their own ideas and having a French name just wasn't
on their minds. Mom was considering "Caleb"
because it wasn't common but also wasn't weird, but Dad
liked "Andrew". As it seems
to sometimes happen wtih married folks, they couldn't come
to an agreement betwen them.
Sometime during the Thanksgiving holiday, Great Uncle
Larry suggested using both, as in, "Caleb
Andrew"...sorry Caleb, it may have been the
wine! Mom and Dad both liked it...so there you have it...this
was to be your name. As an aside, your Great Unlce Larry
also thought it would be cool to be "Cal",
for short, since it is a nickname for Caleb AND your initials
at the same time.
As an aside...in the year 2004 the name Caleb ranked # 33 in the list of popular baby names. From 1920-1960, your name didn't even show up in the top 200. The name Andrew ranked # 6 in 2004, has always been (since records were kept) in the top 100 and for the past decade has been in the top 10. |
